The Importance of the First Three Years of Life
By: Silvana Quattrocchi Montanaro, M.D.
Book Summary:
This book is a highly recommended Montessori book that makes a great gift to any expecting mother. It explains from a medical point of view the development of each infant and what can be done to help their development. It is easily readable for any parent to understand their baby. It mainly talks about children ages 0-3, and their prenatal development. Topics discussed include the fathers involvement, weaning, development of movement and language. We should remember that a newborn has wonderful self-regulating mechanisms that work perfectly and a strong drive to develop all the components of his human potential harmoniously.

I’m currently reading this book for Infant/Toddler Montessori and I love it. I think it’s easy to read and understand. The author does a good job of explaining the importance of each experience. I’m learning more about child development from this book then I did in my undergrad work for Child Development!
